Co-founder of Texts From Last Night Lauren Leto and illustrator/designer Patrick Moberg released Bnter (pronounced “banter”) to the public on Wednesday. The concept follows in line with TFLN except instead of having just one *zinger* text that might not make much sense to anyone else, it allows for publishing an exchange leading up to that one “AH HA” text.
Basically, people can share and post their favorite text message and BBM conversations in a really cute iPhone/iChat bubble format. I attempted to use Bnter and although it’s a fun and interesting idea, two simple issues and concerns came up when I was playing around with the site:
I wish there was a way I didn’t have to physically type out the entire convo. It was a bitch going through my sent and received inbox and typing it all out. Since the website is based on using a BlackBerry or iPhone or any phone, Bnter’s next step should be creating a feature slash mobile app where its users can just copy and paste an entire convo and Bnter will sort out it and publish it automatically. This would just decrease the hurdle of adapting to a new platform. Sure, you get the status of being an “early adopter” but, I don’t know, I just think people are still going to post there funny two, three, four liner text convos to Tumblr. We’re just THAT lazy.
I disliked that users are only allowed three message lines to share their brilliance. What happens if my EXTREMELY WITTY conversation took more than three exchanges—which it did. Then I’m just shit out of luck! Please allow for these convos to have an unlimited (or capped at 10) number of exchanges!
I doubt Leto or Moberg will actually read this, but I’m looking forward to see what other features and additions they start implementing!
