AMSALE

I think my mom would have had a heart attack if she knew I was attending a bridal dress preview. Actually, I think she would be delighted. That said, last week I had the fortunate opportunity to slip out of work a bit (?) early to head uptown to 58th and Madison to visit the AMSALE Flagship Salon. Now, many of you guys have followed me for a while, know that I attended my first real wedding, ie, I was actually invited and not a whole “Chu family plus random daughter we don’t really know.”
Needless to say, my friends and I were SO excited for this wedding. Like, texting each other in May that we were already shopping around for dress options for a wedding in September. Trust me, it was hard enough trying to find out what to wear since it was also going to be the next MAJOR event/time that all of my friends would have been together. I couldn’t imagine my friend being the first one of us and literally “setting the standard” to pick her dress…
I know I’m going on an insane ramble right now, but visiting Amsale Aberra’s salon was such an experience that literally brought me back to September. After drooling over each gown (and figuring out which one I would pick), I had a chance to chat with Amsale after the event had ended and essentially what made her want to design gowns. She simply explained that when she was planning her wedding she couldn’t find anything she liked. I mean, talk about knowing what you want and taking action? LOVE THAT.
It was such an aspirational night only made more relevant since I’ve been thinking more and more about my future and where I’ll be in three, five, even 10 years from now. I’m no where close to getting married but just thinking about it really was affirmation that, “It doesn’t hurt to look.” at dresses that is.
Leaving you with some stunning images…

Also, I had a great time seeing some of my favorite bloggers: Jaimen, Sonia, Caroline, Jamie, Keiko, Kimberly (who I met for the first time finally!), and Lauren/Julie. It still find it so funny that my life has come to the point where asking whether people can attend a specific event becomes the time you can ACTUALLY see that person.
